Reports of average turnover rates in the industry range anywhere from 35% to 200% depending on who you ask. The first dental guards I learned about in dental school were hideous. They were these big, bulky, clunky horseshoe-shaped pieces of plastic; and they made it impossible to close your lips around. Women hated them because they made them gag. Men hated them because they felt a lack of control of their own mouths. And they were both right. Through experience, I have learned different types of mouthguards are used for different types of problems, as well as different types of people. For example, the first patients I was making mouthguards for were male day traders in NYC. They ground/clenched ALL THE TIME due to the stress of their jobs. Due to the fact ...
